This design was originally created for a user who only had use of one hand, but it was later discovered that it had other benefits. By bringing the grip closer to the center of gravity, not only does this prevent round produce from rolling out from under the knife when it is not being held by an opposing hand, it also enables people who have a difficult time handling heavier knives to exert a burst of power such as what’s needed to cleave chicken bones or halve winter squash.
